How would someone get into taxidermy just for a hobby?

I have always been very interested in taxidermy. I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the subject for me. I am sort of an artist..mostly pencil and charcoal…and some experience in painting so I have some artistic abilities and was wondering what supplies, materials or anything else that would be needed for just a beginner. I have heard that it is really expensive. Also wanted to know what kind of space would be needed for that sort of hobby or craft. Any info or answers would be greatly appreciated.

Try Van Dyke taxidermy website for supplies and info – they’ve got pretty good prices (I’ve bought glass eyes and sculpting material there). You can get kits there, too. If nothing else, get their catalog – it’s really cool.
